文竹喜欢水，准确的说应该是：文竹喜欢湿润通风半阴的生长环境。
文竹是天门冬科天门冬属观叶植物，肉质根系，喜湿润的生长环境，但不耐积水。在生长期及时浇水，保持土壤润而不湿，文竹长势快；空气干燥时，定期给环境喷雾，增加环境湿度，可以让文竹的叶片翠绿飘逸，层层叠叠，很有诗意。
给文竹浇水讲究干透浇透，不可积水。所谓浇透就是要缓慢地沿着花盆边缘浇，让水分逐渐地渗透到土壤中，这样等到盆底有水流出，则说明已经浇透，可以停止浇水了。大水冲灌不利于植物吸水。
